This class will introduce the basic principles of insight/mindfulness meditation, including mindfulness of breath, body, and mind. Through talks, silent and guided meditation, exercises, and discussion, the class will help participants learn to quiet the constant chatter of their minds, become less reactive toward difficult experiences, cultivate peaceful hearts, and touch the profound spiritual realm within us all. The class suits beginning meditators and those who wish to put new energy into their practice.
Allen Weiss – Allen is the founding teacher & former Director of Mindful USC (University of Southern California) and a senior teacher at InsightLA.org, where he has taught mindfulness classes for the past 17 years. He started meditating in the mindfulness tradition in 2005, and in 2011 his Basics of Mindfulness class at InsightLA was noted as the Best in Los Angeles by LA Magazine. He completed the Dedicated Practitioners Program (DPP) at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in 2008. Jack Kornfield and Trudy Goodman gave Allen formal dharma teaching authorization in 2014.
